“Countless times in life, I have been subjected to unfriendly, critical, and vulgar male gaze, which makes me feel like an object.”
This work is a dramatic expression of this phenomenon. It consists of four scenes and gives the audience the power to dominate by metaphorically comparing women to various cakes in different environments, including the mourning hall, shopping mall, amusement park, and dressing table. That’s why the exhibition looks like a cake shop. The use of a large number of gradient colours symbolises the absurdity of reality, and the stacking of elements also has metaphors for facts. In a word, the work aims to expose the negative impact of the male gaze from a feminist perspective.
