Hong Kong, 2023
I have a habit of recording the sky, but when I arrived in Hong Kong, I was disappointed to find that the sun was rarely visible in my neighbourhood. Instead, all I could see were the densely packed crowds and buildings. Even from the overpass, I could only catch a glimpse of buildings that were far away, and the sky was just a broken piece of cloth to me. It often feels like I'm a fish trapped in Hong Kong, darting through the cracks of the city, chasing an illusory future like a foam.
In this project, I filmed shops, streets, and home appliances in Sham Shui Po Street, using fisheye lenses to capture my daily life. Through this work, I aim to convey my observations of established scenes in life and highlight the psychological balance I've found in this suffocating city.
Procedure:
Firstly, use a fisheye lens to capture videos and photo materials.
Then, completing the colour adjustment for photos in Photoshop, mainly adjusting the hue and saturation of the images to make them feel more like an aquarium in colour.
I first conducted preliminary video editing in Adobe Premiere, and then added special effects and color adjustments to the video in Jianying.
I eventually combined the video and images, retained the original sound of the video in terms of audio, and added underwater reverb effects. Compared to a video, this is more like an electronic fish tank installation.
