The information era not only brings convenience to life, but also brings endless problems. After people are involved in the digital world, with excessive information intake and privacy disclosure, the concept of identity gradually becomes blurred, turning into virtual IDs and avatars in the network.

This is a 3D space interaction project, which aims to reveal the loss of personal identity brought by the Internet era. The project consists of five scenes: Excessive Surfing, Information Explosion, Surveillance and Lost, Self-seeking, and Return to Reality, which invites the audience to have an immersive experience from the first-person perspective by simulating the world exploration on the Internet. The audience completes the scene exploration by looking for a small red ball that represents "self " in the scene.

Technics:  MAYA, JAVASCRIPT, HTML, Adobe Premiere

Scenes:

  • Scene 1: Excessive Surfing

The toilet in the first scene is surrounded by Internet-related videos, and there are many message prompt boxes around. The toilet serves as an entrance to the world of the internet precisely because in the internet age, people are spending more and more time playing with their mobile phones on the toilet. The mouse control allows a panoramic view of the scene. Clicking the toilet will spray water and drown the audience. You can jump to the next scene by looking for the small red ball in the corner.

  • Scene 2: Information Explosion

This part is a reference to the artwork of NamJune Paik; the videos were all piled up together to show the overload of information in the internet world. The scene is set in the universe to draw an analogy between the information explosion and the atomic explosion. The new 'planet' that emerges is a baby connected by a display screen as a blood vessel, suggesting that modern humans feed on electronic information as embryos, indicating the current human lineage has become electronic and that their identity as human beings is no longer purely physical. The small red ball is in the baby's hand.

  • Scene 3: Surveillance and Lost

In this part, most of the self-lit objects are placed in a dark environment to show the oppressive feeling of forced exposure in the electronic age. The symbolic elements include arranged eyes, which represent being monitored all the way. People peek at mobile phones in different poses to show that it is easy to invade the private field in the virtual world. In addition, the audience can click and interact with the surrounding suppressed and blurred rooms. The interaction is to satirize the behavior of unauthorized access to personal space. Finally, by clicking the sofa at the end of the road, it will rise to the perspective of the monitor, where you can observe the scene again, symbolizing that the identity of the monitored and the monitor can be switched in the online world.

  • Scene 4: Self-seeking

This part is related to the search for self. When you get to the first door, the pop-up window of "You are lost" will appear, but you can gradually find yourself by continuing to walk down. The little red ball is at the top of the stairs. Click the little red ball, and you will find that there are fake mirrors all around. Only by clicking the little red ball above your head can you really find yourself.

  • Scene 5: Return to Reality

The scene returns to the previous toilet, but there is no more noisy information around. This is not only the end of one section of surfing, but also the beginning of the next section of lost.
